Kelly Rowland Talks Implants In Cosmopolitan UK November 2011
October 10, 2011 by Hollywoodite
Kelly Rowland covers Cosmo UK November 2011. She’s been trying to make her music carer happen in whatever obscure genre will take her, post-Beyonce/ Destiny’s Child. She’s been the featured artist on a bunch of underwhelming songs and she’s featured hasbeens on her own songs. It’s all been a waste of above-average talent. She has… something. It’s not remarkable, but she does have something that feels wasted.
She’s not as good a presenter as she is a singer, which is why she’s working on X Factor UK not the one in her native America. It’s like she wasn’t good or popular enough to make it on her home turf. She’s doing an imitation of a presenter. She’s going through the motions. She’s not memorable or charismatic. She’s just meh. And this interview’s meh. But it’s an insight as to why she got implants in 2007.
On her boob job in October 2007: “I said in an interview a long time ago that I’d get it done because I just had little nuggets for boobs and it was bothering me. The decision was 10 years in the making, so I’m comfortable talking about it… It’s something I really wanted to do for myself — not for a man, not for work, for myself. And I love them!”
On being abandoned by her father, Christopher Lovett, when she was a child: “I haven’t seen my dad for almost 20 years. It’s nothing I want a pity party for. He left me and my mom, and I was angry… I wanted to be a daddy’s girl so bad. God damn The Cosby Show because that made me think, ‘Why isn’t my family like that?’ But this is not a perfect world.”
On how her dad came back, once she became famous, by reaching out publicly: Lovett tried to contact his estranged daughter through a tabloid in June, and Rowland plans to slowly let him back into her life. “He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me, but it’s unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want to meet him, and soon, I really do. I forgave him a long time ago.”
Breaking off her engagement to athlete Roy Williams in 2005 when she was 24: “I was too young for marriage. I remember my sister B [Beyonce] asked me one question: she said, ‘Well, you know what you want now, don’t you?’ and I was like ‘Yes’. It was so hard and embarrassing because everyone knew. I’d posed for the front cover of a magazine in my wedding dress and it was on sale! But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it”.
On being single: “Before, I’d want to lean on somebody. Now I love the fact that I can just be a single lady, chilling and hanging with my friends, and traveling the world. It’s a pretty good life. I’m ready for marriage when the right time comes now, though.” – via Cosmo UK
Sidenote: quilted leather’s in right now and her shorts are impossibly cute.
