Ke$ha Sets the Record Straight on Her Life in New Docuseries

Contrary to popular belief, Ke$ha’s life is not all about drunkenness and debauchery. The party girl pop singer offers an intimate glimpse of her world behind all the glitter in the new MTV docuseries, Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life.
Last night’s premiere episode of the six-part special begins with Ke$ha exactly how you’d expect her to be—carefree and fun loving. It’s 2011 and the young electro pop star is trotting the globe as the headliner on her first international tour. Viewers get the chance to watch firsthand as the notorious bad girl makes out with strangers and searches for whatever makes her happy in the moment.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the tone of the episode shifts and Ke$ha emerges like we’ve never seen her before—vulnerable and wounded. A flood of emotions comes pouring down on unsuspecting viewers when she rides past her ex-boyfriend Harold’s house. Later, the auto tune princess blames gossip blogger Perez Hilton for the end of her relationship.
“[Perez Hilton] single-handedly ruined the only relationship that’s ever meant anything to me,” she tearfully declared while sipping wine straight from the bottle. “My family doesn’t have to deal with this. He stands for everything I hate.” Ke$ha is of course referring to the fact that Hilton leaked nude photos of her back in 2010. Though she is usually an open book—this is the same woman who told the world about her alleged sexual escapades with a ghost—the Tik Tok singer clearly has a limit.
Still, amid all of the antics, many are left unsure. They simply don’t know what to make of the emotional badass who has been compared to everyone from Katy Perry to Lady Gaga. Those in favor of bad girl Ke$ha in all of her smoked out and glittered up glory will likely be satisfied by her crazy life on and off the road. Others, who’ve never really given her a second look, might be surprised to learn that there is more to Ke$ha than meets the eye.
From random make out sessions to stalking her ex-boyfriend, Ke$ha makes no qualms about who she is. And in case you haven’t figured it out yet, she, like the rest of us, is a walking contradiction.
