Little Sister to the Rescue! Khloe Kardashian Defends Big Sister Kim Against Tabloid Attacks of her Weight

There’s no bond quite like sisterhood. And Khloe Kardashian captured that beautifully in a letter to her older sister Kim Kardashian. In the supportive letter, which Kim posted on her blog last night, Khloe came to her defense like only a sister can.
And the note comes at just the right time, as Kim has been the target of particularly malicious criticism for months. In fact, from the moment the reality TV star announced her pregnancy, the tabloids unleashed a firestorm, critiquing her for everything from her weight to what she wears. Despite pleas from other celebrities and journalists, the gossip sites have remained relentless in their judgment of Kim K. But her sister has finally had enough.
Though Kourtney has been pregnant and undoubtedly understands the physical and emotional changes women experience while expecting, Khloe knows exactly how it feels to be judged based on her weight. “I am a firsthand victim to public attacking in regards to my body or appearance,” she explains in the letter. “This is low in and of itself,” the 28-year-old continues. “[B]ut I cannot tolerate one more vicious attack on my sister! For anyone ever to criticize a woman who is growing a life inside of her is true scum in my eyes.”
The youngest of the three Kardashian sisters is right on target in her assessment of the “physical and emotional abuse” that Kim has suffered while pregnant. The intensity and volume of scrutiny aimed against the controversial star sheds light on the sad reality that celebrities who don’t meet society’s rigid standard of beauty will be ridiculed accordingly. Moreover, fat shaming celebrities also illustrates that women are still reduced to their physical bodies.
“Stop being so careless with your words,” Khloe urges the media. “Words are a powerful weapon, all I ask is that you think of the consequences of your words…Choose them wisely.”
But leave it to Khloe to end on an uplifting note for her sister. In the second half of her message, the feisty Kardashian sister emphasizes Kim Kardashian’s beauty and strength.
“I commend you for not putting your head down and going into hiding like so many would. You live your life and you try to make the best out of a tough situation. I need you to know how truly magnificent you are! You may be one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid my eyes on. Your beauty runs deeper [than] just what some may see. I know the beauty of your soul. Please never let anyone take that from you! It breaks my heart when I see you sad because of the vicious attacks on your growing, pregnant body. Bible kimmie you are perfect the way you are! This is your life! Your body! Your baby! I wish you could see how you have this pregnant glow and you sparkle every day! Your belly is fantastic! Kim! You are growing a miracle inside of you! I love you! And I will do anything in my power to protect you! I’m sorry for all that you have to go through but at the end of the day this will only make you stronger. And as usual you will always take the high road! I couldn’t be prouder to be your sister!!!”
