Khloe Kardashian vs. Gov. Cuomo: Were Rich Soil’s Designs Plagiarized?

The real ‘Pride of New York’ logo, left, and the Rich Soil tee, right.

Looks like the youngest of the Kardashian trio has found herself in some hot water. With Governor Cuomo of New York, nonetheless. Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom’s high-end fashion line Rich Soil debuted a very suspicious looking shirt the other day. A shirt that had a logo very similar to the state’s Department of Agriculture symbol “Pride in New York.”

The Daily News, who broke the story yesterday, reported that a letter had been sent from the state to Kardashian and Odom warning them that if they didn’t pull the shirt immediately they would be forced to take legal action.

“The state of New York has invested substantial time, effort and resources creating the respect and goodwill associated with trademarks,” said Susan Rosenthal, a lawyer for the Department of Argriculture, in the letter to Rich Soil.

The letter also demanded the company give an estimate of how much they made off the $35 shirt.

The two designs are eerily similar and it seems Rich Soil agrees.  The shirt has been pulled from the website. There has yet to be an official comment about the incident, however.

With all the money (and lawsuits) the Kardashians have it seems like they should seriously consider employing someone whose job it is to watch out for this sort of thing in the future.

The rich Soil website states that the brand is “a clothing line that promotes creative design, spiritual iconic imagery and the shared idea that growth can come from virtually anywhere.”
