Another Cloying Cover From Us Weekly: Kim Kardashian In A Bikini “You Call This Fat?”

It’s already been established that Us Weekly is Kris Jenner’s go-to shill for the family’s lifestyle exclusives. For example, the tabloid was invited along to Kim Kardashian’s honeymoon with Kris Humphries where the couple spent a lot of time posing and no time bonding and they separated very soon after. The magazine is firmly in Kris Jenner’s back pocket and it has a fiduciary interest in being pro-Kardashian.
Previously, in the face of other tabloids calling Kardashian “fat” and “200 lbs” Us Weekly wrote a cloying piece about how great she looked (she did but that’s not the point). They were making their position clear when every other tabloid except PEOPLE was mocking Kardashian’s weight. And they’re doing it again with another cloying pro-Kardashian cover. This time, more overtly coming out to support the pregnant 32-year-old.
For a cover shoot that’s basically a sponsored puff-piece–Us Weekly was invited to document the family “vacation” that was really footage for Keeping up with the Kardashians–the tabloid asks “You call this fat?” And there’s an accompanying non-story that’s 90% exposition and light on facts considering they were actually present the whole time… but here it is.

Rocking a bikini is a big step for Kardashian, who has been bullied for her weight ever since announcing in December that she and boyfriend Kanye West would welcome their first child in July. “I struggle finding things that don’t make me look heavy,” she blogged earlier this year of the challenges she’s faced in dressing her new curves.
