Kim Kardashian Engagement Details: How Much Did Her Ring Cost? Wedding Date?
It’s only been 48 hours but, thanks to friends and family live-tweeting the entire thing, there are SO many details about Kanye West’s proposal to Kim Kardashian.
Kanye proposed in front of friends, family, a band and cameras documenting the entire thing according to TMZ. Radar says they weren’t E! cameras, though, although almost all the guests were taking photo and video. It’s not confirmed yet whether the engagement will become anything more than the upcoming E! special. But, if it does, Kanye gets final say on what footage airs.
Kim wore a $6,800 Valentino dress to AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA where Kanye gave her a 15 carat Lorraine Schwartz flawless D-stone with a cushion cut worth $1.6 million, according to PEOPLE.
Here’s how the proposal went down, according to Us Weekly:
“As West and Kardashian arrived via chauffeured car, ‘all of the lights were off at the stadium,’ the source says. Blindfolded, Kim emerged with West at her side. ‘It was completely dark. Kim had no idea that any of her friends and family were there,’ the same insider says. Orchestral music began, the sign was alit. West ‘got down on one knee and the lights came on. It was perfectly choreographed. It was incredible!’ After the lights went up, her friends and family (many of them in tears) emerged from the dugout, running onto the field to give their congrats. Caterers quickly emerged as well to set up a yummy spread of sushi and more.”
Kanye got Kris Jenner’s blessing before getting down on one knee, he told Kim and fans at a concert two days prior he intended to propose, and Kim likely picked the ring herself. “Kim had picked out her own Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring,” a source tells Radar. Kim “told Kanye to get the ring from Lorraine Schwartz because she loves the jeweler’s diamonds. She knew the proposal was happening, she just didn’t know when it would happen.” Kim’s previous ring from Kris Humphries was more like 20 carats–the center stone for which was 16.5 carats. Kris Humphries only paid $200,000-300,000 for the ring, a discount on $2 million, because of all the publicity–he later sold it for $749,000.
Kanye got a deal too, adds the source, “Kanye got a significant deal on the ring just as Kris did because of all the publicity it will get. Before Kim gave the ultimate seal of approval on the sparkler, Kanye looked at over 20 diamonds. The diamond has no flaws and has more sparkle than Kim’s previous ring.” Radar claims the ring is worth more than was previously reported, “The ring could be worth at least $3 million, jewelry experts estimate, but according to the source, Kanye paid less than $500,000.”
“She may even have this one be more over-the-top than her wedding to Kris, with several possible ceremonies and receptions,” the source added, noting the wedding will likely take place once the Yeezus tour ends in 2014, and “Kim wants Nori to walk down the aisle as a flower girl.”
