Kim Kardashian: Exclusive Baby Photos Losing Value; She’ll Still Profit From Pregnancy

Once again, there are conflicting reports about Kim Kardashian and her baby. Yesterday, sources could not agree on whether Kardashian would whore out her child’s image to the highest bidder nor whether the child would become part of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Some sources claimed Kris Jenner would make sure that happened while others claimed Kanye West would ensure relative privacy and normalcy.
Those sentiments are reiterated today in a series of contradictory reports from The Huffington Post’s Rob Shuter.
On the one hand, it’s claimed that Kardashian’s chances for exploiting the exclusive first photos of the newborn went down with the Titanic because photos just don’t cause bidding wars nor sell for tens of millions of dollars anymore. A source concurs, telling Shuter: “The last time a pregnancy caused this much attention was when Angelina and Brad were expecting twins in 2008. Those images sold for a record-breaking $14 million.” Another source, the editor in chief of a celebrity weekly, agrees: “The first images of Kim’s baby could sell for as much as $3 million. But just like she did on her wedding, Kim will be able to make money from TV specials, gifts, baby showers and baby parties.” In case you missed those reports, Kardashian was reportedly paid $20 million to get married… but not to stay married so she filed for divorce 72 days later.
However, another source posits about the timing of West announcing the pregnancy: “Because of the new year, all the weekly magazines had an early closing schedule. They had to close on Friday, not Monday. This week’s Us Weekly features a cover of Kourtney’s baby weight loss that was sold to them. That’s what makes this announcement so special. It’s Kanye telling the family that not everything has to be about money.” A family source sort of confirms this account… and then makes it sound like Kris Jenner put a hit on West for breaking the news for free and too late to make the covers: “Kris Jenner is the one that negotiates all the deals. She is a business genius and the one that has made the family rich and famous. She doesn’t take lightly when any of the girls go rogue on her, and certainly isn’t going to appreciate it if Kanye now thinks he is calling the shots.”
