Kim Kardashian-Endorsed Sketchers Shape-Ups Are A Total Scam

May 17, 2012 by Hollywoodite

A brand of sneaker endorsed by Kim Kardashian is a scam, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

Shape-ups by Sketchers do nothing claimed in the advertising starring Kardashian. Who maintains, in spite of the legal scandal, the shoe helped her tone her legs and butt during workouts. Which is bupkis because she works out with TWO personal trainers, Gunnar Peterson and Tracy Anderson, for an hour at a time, multiple times-per-week. That’s why she’s toned, not her sneakers.

Moreover, Sketchers lied about its clinical studies; falsifying data used in the marketing. Therefore, FTC has determined, all medical claims are unfounded. And now, according to TMZ.com, Sketchers has “agreed to pay $40 million in settlement costs, [and] anyone who bought the shoes will be eligible for a refund. Skechers is reportedly disputing the FTC decision and plans to conduct more research on the effects of the shoe.”

This isn’t the first time a Kardashian-endorsed product has been exposed as a scam:

* Attorney General of Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, found the Kardashian Kard to be an exercise in exorbitant hidden fees and marketing to an audience lacking the wherewithal to know what they’re really buying.

* QuickTrim is subject to a $5 million class action lawsuit because they’re just caffeine pills which “the FDA has determined is not a safe or effective treatment for weight control.”
