Kardashians Want Their Own Dedicated Tabloid Magazine O’ Shills

January 5, 2012 by Hollywoodite

The Kardashians already dominate the tabloid covers you pick up absent-mindedly at the grocery story checkout. They’re the go-to filler whenever a Teen Mom isn’t available. That’s their place in the market and it’s a big part of their success; they’re (mostly) pretty filler, that comes complete with filler shills, filler fashion, filler life stories. It’s just no-brained autopilot at this point. Bikini covers, baby reveals, fake wedding drama and smearing anyone they don’t like.

For the most part, the tabloids suck up to the sisters since there’s a lot of money to be made from keeping them on side. Us Weekly were invited on Kim Kardashain’s most recent honeymoon and were obviously biased in their divorce coverage. Life & Style is Kourtney Kardashian’s go-to for bikinis and reveals so they’re placating the family with biased coverage too.

And now the sisters want even more editoral control, since the pandering is no longer enough. Page Six reports that American Media Inc., the company that owns RadarOnline, Star, Shape, and the National Enquirer, has plans to launch a Kardashian-only tabloid with their backing as early as Spring.

“This is a Kardashian idea,” a source said. “They have been reaching out to several media outlets.” We hear the girls plan to be heavily involved editorially. Kris Jenner won’t be editor-in-chief, but will certainly be pulling the strings. Some say the mag could launch as soon as spring.

“Now the Kardashians can spin their own stories in print,” a competitor sniped. Others say the mag will be more of a fanzine devoted to the family. AMI launched Reality Weekly, a magazine devoted to reality TV, with Victoria Gotti as editor. Some suspect the Kardashian mag will be similar to Kim’s celebuzz blog, which is packed with family happenings and plugs for sponsors. AMI and a Kardashian rep declined to comment. – via NY Post’s Page Six.
