RHoA’s “Big Poppa” Mug Shot: Who Is He? What Does He Look Like? Why Was He Arrested?

November 9, 2012 by Hollywoodite

On earlier seasons of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak would brag about not needing a job because she was so proficient at gold-digging money from her (now-former) sugar daddy/ boyfriend-of-years whom she nicknamed “Big Poppa” so as not to reveal his identity on the show. “Big Poppa” is real estate mogul/ developer Lee Najjar.

Najjar was married at the time of the affair(s) and he’s still married to his wife, also named Kim, who knew about the arrangement and was reportedly indifferent as she lived her own life in Los Angeles.

Najjar was reportedly “arrested twice in two days (once in Gwinnette County and once in Fulton) with the Nov 6, 2012 arrest possibly pertaining to [his] Failure To Appear.” The businessman was taken into custody by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department November 6, soon after which he was released on an undisclosed amount of bail.

As for why he was arrested, TMZ.com reports Najjar “had a bench warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court to face allegations he failed to maintain a storm water system at one of his properties. Najjar has already been hit with a $75,000 fine for violating the ordinance and was supposed to appear in court on July 5 but… he blew off his court date.”

Back in 2009, Najjar proposed to Zolciak with a giant diamond engagement ring. The same year, Najjar displayed his Buckhead mansion on an episode of MTV’s Teen Cribs and the home was the set of “Bill Murray’s house” in Jesse Eisenberg movie, Zombieland. After which the property went on sale for $25 million.

In 2010, Najjar’s Union Station mall in Union City, GA was threatened with closure because he fell months behind on the light bill in addition to owing more than $290,000 in back taxes. Georgia Power reportedly “even threatened shopkeepers of pending disconnections due to nonpayment” soon after which “mall security changed the locks on several stores.” In 2011, with only Sears and Macy’s remaining as tenants, the 2010 receivership progressed to a foreclosure auction.

The financial mess was somehow not prohibitive of purchasing Zolciak gifts while they were dating, though. Najjar declared bankruptcy during their relationship but kept on funding his mistress’ lifestyle.

Zolciak is currently living with her husband and children in the Atlanta condo that Najjar reportedly purchased for her while they were dating.
