Report: Kris Humphries’ Annulment Request Is Just A PR Statement
December 1, 2011 by Hollywoodite
It looks like Kris Humphries is not going to get his annulment.
Yesterday, Humphries’ rep confirmed he would seek an annulment; preferring the marriage be expunged because of fraud, rather than go through a divorce. However, annulments are hard to get and California attorney Royal Oakes tells RumorFix.com the baller would have to “prove things like fraud, bigamy, mental incapacity, and duress.” So, “The chances of him proving any of those in court are somewhere between slim and none.”
Which is in line with Kim Kardashian’s retort yesterday that divorce is the only remaining legal option.
Adds Oakes: “Going for an annulment is really more of a PR statement than a serious legal maneuver. It’s Kris saying Kim was so bad he wants the whole marriage wiped off the books. But, an angry ex-spouse can’t manipulate the legal system just to vent. In order to get an annulment you have to prove your spouse was a fraud, or nuts, or that you were coerced into marriage. Good luck proving any of that.”
