Kris Jenner was on The Today Show this morning denying that her family profited from Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event. Also released today, the video from the promotional appearance for Sears Kim Kardashian made with sister Khloe on a flying visit to Australia the day she filed for divorce.
Jenner went on The Today Show and the general consensus is she LIED about money made from the wedding. Because the matriarch referred specifically to “profit”… well, net profit to be exact. Not the gross, since she doesn’t seem to know the difference. Jenner asserts that Kardashian didn’t technically profit since they made less money than people assume, they only made money from photo rights, and even the ring’s less-impressive than people think.
Jenner… debunked the rumor that E! bought the rights to the wedding for a reported $17.9 million. That’s just not the case, Jenner insisted. “One of the rumors is that we sold the television rights for millions of dollars… not true. We profited, she profited from the wedding? Absolutely false,” said Jenner.
When pressed about how much money Kardashian and Humphries made, Jenner clarified somewhat. “They made some money for the pictures that were sold and things like that, but at the end of the day, that money went towards the wedding and Kim had to pay a great deal of money [for the balance of the wedding]. We don’t sell television rights.”
Pressed even further, Jenner said that photo rights were sold for “Less than a million, more than half a million dollars.”
So what about that much-talked about engagement ring? First, Jenner says it was not worth half the $2 million that’s been reported… “It wasn’t $2 million [but] less than half of that.”
As for the wedding gifts, Jenner was elusive except to say, “I know that Kim plans on making very generous contributions to a really deserving charity when she gets home and trying to make that right because she feels really bad about that.” – via MSNBC.
Ignoring the passive-aggressive swipe at the ring, she’s a liar. She even admits the family chose to spend their shill earnings on the wedding. That’s not the same as never profiting at all or spending more than you’re earning.
Kardashian appeared on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O with her sister and they lied too, telling people she married for love: “I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that, and I think that’s really ridiculous that I have to even, you know, kind of defend that but, you know.” Basically recyling what the 31-year-old already said in her blog post.
