Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler Return Wedding Gifts, Send Thank You Cards

August 8, 2011 by Hollywoodite

Kristin Cavallari and her ex-fiance stopped cursing out their own friends on Facebook long enough to tie up the loose ends of their broken engagement. The former couple called off their 100% planned wedding a few weeks ago. Cavallari posed in a series of designer wedding gowns… white gowns no less… for Life & Style, in a shoot that took place two days before she was publicly dumped and Jay Cutler changed his Facebook status to find a bunch of his friends awkward-liked it. It was a mess. It’s debatable whether it was even a real relationship. She seemed to like the column-inches. He seemed to like her. What he was thinking when he proposed, who knows? But if this Facebook blow-up is anything to go by, there were feelings there on his part.

At this point they’re returning the wedding gifts.

If Deadspin.com is anything to go by some of the gifts were bought by strangers from the online registries so they could spy on the order process, get shipping details, and get thank you cards signed by the couple. Who knows why a stranger would want to waste their money. The former couple mostly asked for cook/bakeware, supposedly for Cutler who was something of a keen cook. But it seems the friends, family, and easily-amused strangers/ Deadspin readers will be getting their money back. Because, when the wedding is called off, you don’t get to keep the gifts.

On the cards sent to people about the broken engagement, Cavallari and Cutler noted that gifts had been returned. Some of the cards had a handwritten append. Others did not. The former couple appear to have taken turns writing the notes out.
