Kym Johnson has been dancing her way through 14 seasons of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and US Weekly has confirmed she will be taking the upcoming season (season 17) off. Fans don’t need to worry as she has promised she will be back for season 18.

Johnson shared that she is leaving DWTS because of an “amazing work opportunity.” Her new project is sure to keep her in the spotlight even as she heads back home to her native Australia. “I am excited, nervous, and humbled by this chance and look forward to sharing more about it soon with you,” she told US Weekly.

Johnson originally began dancing on the Australian version of Dancing With the Stars but she switched over to the U.S version for season three. She has won the coveted mirror ball trophy twice- in 2009 with celebrity partner Donny Osmond and in 2011 with NFL player Hines Ward.

“I wish all the dancers and celebrities in season 17 nothing but love and success and hope to see you all back on the dance floor for season 18,” Johnson said. The 37-year-old beauty’s stunning traditional ballroom routines will be missed. Johnson was frequently praised for her patient demeanor with the clumsy celebrities.

The newest season of Dancing With the Stars begins Monday, September 16 on ABC. While we will miss Johnson, we are excited for her to begin her new adventure, whatever it may be! Will you miss Kym on the small screen and what do you think her new project could be? Let us know!
