L.A. Ink “Cancelled” – Was It TLC Or Kat Von D’s Decision?

August 19, 2011 by Hollywoodite

L.A. Ink has been cancelled in news that will move no one. The show hadn’t made much of an impression and previews gave most of the story arc away. Moreover, it was only making headlines because of the supposed relationship breakdown of Kat Von D and Jesse James. Von D threw a hissy fit at a television station for talking about her break-up when she was there to promote her season premiere. She got the publicity she wanted, but she made herself look like an ill-tempered flake.

She’s not making herself look better with this little episode, whining on Twitter and then whining on People.com about how TLC manipulated her story arcs in the edit and so she walked away from the show of her own accord. She wasn’t fired. She chose to leave. At least that’s what she’s claiming on Twitter, “I love how me deciding to not continue doing LA Ink, turns into being ‘cancelled.’ Thanks @TLC. Regardless of everything I remain grateful… Please standby for a more in depth, more honest statement regarding LA Ink.”

Soon after, she tweeted a cell link to People where she added, “In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup, the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming. I have no regrets and am proud of the original footage. In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and viewers. As grateful as I am to have been a part of a show like LA Ink,  I’m ready to end this chapter and want to focus on other projects now.”

What set her off this time? A statement from TLC that was interpreted by the media as her show being a “cancelled”… TLC never implied any such thing. All they said was, “TLC has decided that the current season of LA Ink will be its last. The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D’s journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles. The series finale will air September 15th at 10 p.m.”

Ugh.
