Lakers Offer Lamar Odom a Spot On the Team… Under One Condition

With the recent marital and drug issues surrounding two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom, things just might be looking up for him.
After allegedly spending a few days away from the home he shares with wife Khloe Kardashian, he has since returned. Now the Los Angeles Lakers, by the way of the general manager Mitch Kupchak, are offering Odom a spot on the team… as long as he enters rehab and completes the program.
RadarOnline.com is reporting that a source close to Kupchak told Odom’s agent Jeff Schwartz: ”Because the organization and the Buss family are extremely concerned about him. The Lakers are a family and even though Lamar isn’t currently on their roster, that doesn’t matter, he’s a two-time championship Laker. Lamar need to go to rehab and he’s been told by the team that if he goes and completes treatment, there’ll be a spot for him.”
Odom was released from the Lakers in 2011 and went on to play for the Dallas Mavericks the following season. With the move to Dallas, and the filming of the E! show Khloe and Lamar, Odom’s time with the Mavericks was a tough one for the 6’10 forward. He was eventually let go from the Mavericks towards the end of the season and was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
It’s no secret that Odom’s game has lacked in the last few years, be it substance abuse or just his age. If this deal with the Lakers is seriously on the table this could be what Odom needs to get on the straight and narrow.
