Leona Lewis Basically Thinks All Her Peers Are Trampy
September 9, 2011 by Hollywoodite
In an interview that teeters awkwardly between judging others and a lack of self-confidence in her own body (see the comments about bikini shoots and judge for yourself), Leona Lewis has shared some harsh words for her peers.
Lewis is perhaps the only memorable winner of the UK’s X Factor. There has been an abundance of talent, but not many of those people have won. There have been a lot of time-wasting novelty acts let through for ratings; people who were spoken of around the water cooler and then never again. But Lewis had a voice and would only have lost because of her tedious-at-times lacking confidence throughout the judging process.
Well, she’s still in the industry years later and she has some harsh words for her female peers who she feels use sex as smoke and mirrors to mask a lack of talent in other areas. She’s right, in all honesty, there’s a lot of jiggling/ gyrating/ thrusting and very little singing. The onus hasn’t been on talent in a very long time.
That’s not quite how Lewis phrased it though.
“Personally, I think some people go too far,” she told Stylist magazine. “I don’t really like to see people dancing around a pole or gyrating on a guy every time I go to a concert. I just don’t think there is any need for it. I’d rather be something positive, especially to young girls. It’s not something I want to represent and I find it a bit insulting as a woman. There’s a way to be sexy that’s not too in your face.”
Lewis added that she has no plans to strip naked for a photoshoot, and that she is “happy” with her body. “I would never do a bikini shoot. It’s too embarrassing,” she said. “No weird sex books for me either. I watch what I eat and I eat really healthily most of the time, but other times, I’ll just eat what I want. I’m happy with my figure.” – via Digital Spy.
