Lindsay Lohan Pulls Out Of Barbara Walters Interview To Avoid Incriminating Herself

November 10, 2012 by Hollywoodite

Lindsay Lohan was scheduled to sit for a pre-recorded no holds barred interview with so-called “family friend” Barbara Walters. Unsurprisingly, Lohan bailed at the last moment. No more interview.

The purpose of the interview appeared to have been promoting Lifetime’s Liz & Dick and setting the record straight not too long after Dina Lohan made a drunken ass of herself on Dr Phil, after which the actress called her mother a drunken cocaine addict on the phone to her father (only to rescind), and her father staged an intervention with the support of Lohan’s lawyers and manager. Although not with the support of her publicist who quit soon after (because of Michael Lohan).

Moreover, Lohan’s contract for Liz & Dick included no interviews. The only marketing for the movie appeared to be one poster and two trailers. The Daily alleged that Lohan negotiated/ blackmailed Lifetime into paying off her overdue $46,000 Chateau Marmont bill over which she had been banned. In exchange for one interview promoting the movie, the interview with Walters, which has now been canned. Even though the hotel ban has been lifted and it appears the bill has been paid.

Walters’ team stressed at the time of securing the interview that it would be no holds barred and would include talk about the movie and the 26-year-old’s personal life. But there’s a problem. Lohan is suddenly facing probation violation charges relating to the crash that could easily have killed both people in the car. Lohan allegedly lied to police and blamed her assistant who told police the truth… but not on purpose because the assistant rescinded his story too.

To avoid further embarrassment, Lohan’s new publicists have warned against the risk of incriminating herself on television. This is good advice from a good team of whom Lainey Gossip says: “Lohan is now being represented by Rogers and Cowan PR. Though it’s not confirmed yet specifically which publicist at Rogers and Cowan has been assigned to Lohan, for example, Alan Nierob is with Rogers and Cowan and he’s a veteran Hollywood flack who reps people like Robert Downey Jr and Mel Gibson… this is not a Mickey Mouse firm… they are experienced with celebrity scandal and, in particular, how to run a game plan to recover from celebrity scandal.”

Lohan reportedly feels “terrible” about pulling out of the interview that would have aired on 20/ 20 November 16 “because she considers Walters a family friend.”

A spokesperson for ABC News said in a statement: ”We are disappointed that Lindsay cancelled the interview and wish her well.”

Deadline.com offers more information about Lohan bailing at the last minute.

Few in Hollywood pull out of Barbara Walter’s interviews, especially when they have an upcoming project. But Lindsay Lohan’s new PR representatives Rogers & Cowan confirmed tonight that the actress will not be appearing on ABC’s 20/20. Lohan was scheduled to be on the show November 16 for an interview with Walters.

A source tells Deadline that Lohan’s new flackery was dissatisfied with the direction ABC wanted to take the interview. The 20/20 stint was to promote Lohan’s upcoming Lifetime movie Liz & Dick in which she portrays Elizabeth Taylor and her stormy romance to two-time husband and co-star Richard Burton, played by Grant Bowler. Liz & Dick premieres November 25th.

Meanwhile, what a Herculean task it must be to flack Lindsay Lohan. – via Deadline.
