Lindsay Lohan Lied To Get Out Of Barbara Walters Interview; Will Be On Jay Leno Instead
Barbara Walters confirmed that her interview with Lindsay Lohan had been cancelled. Which really meant the interview that had already begun filming, and you can watch 30 seconds of it below, would never be completed.
Lohan made sure to tell the media that she felt “terrible” about cancelling because she “considers Walters a family friend.”
But apparently they’re not close enough friends for Lohan to be honest about WHY she bailed only days before the interview was supposed to air on news show 20/20. It’s rumoured that Lohan’s new representatives advised her to withdraw from the interview lest she incriminate herself in the probation violation case that’s threatening to send her to jail. It’s thought Jay Leno would prefer generalities, softballs, amelioration, maybe, and easy laughs (of which, admittedly, Lohan would be the punchline). Whereas Walters may have wanted to delve into the actress’ personal life, drug issues, family issues, and criminal record including ongoing cases.
Lohan told Walters she “doesn’t feel up to” doing any interviews right now. Then she booked The Tonight Show With Leno for the same week.
About which Walters told The View: “So today I pick up the paper, the punchline is Lindsay is sitting for an interview with Jay Leno! [If her new reps] had said to me ‘You know, Barbara, she isn’t up to the kinds of questions that you might ask’ although most of them were comparing her to Liz Taylor…child stars, aggressive mothers… it would have been a wonderful interview. If they had told me that, I wouldn’t feel quite as disappointed as I do today.”
A source explains a little further: “Barbara was going to ask [Lindsay] probing questions about her drug use, Dina Lohan’s drug use, the intervention, and Michael Lohan recording their phone call and the family’s money issues. Barbara was going to try and get Lindsay to talk about all of the drama in her personal life, including the possible upcoming charges for lying to the cops after her car accident, and Lindsay isn’t ready to talk about anything. There was no way she could answer any of the questions right now, Lindsay just isn’t in a good place to do that.”
