Lisa Hochstein Opens Up About Her Surrogacy Fears
Lisa Hochstein and her husband Lenny have been trying to conceive a baby for the last couple of years, and unfortunately, they’ve had no luck. Despite their difficulties, Lisa has been hesitant to explore the option of surrogacy. During a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Miami, Lisa and Lenny were seen discussing the issue and while Lenny was interested in surrogacy, Lisa wasn’t quite sold on the idea.
“I can still try,” she told him. However, it didn’t take her long before she admitted that she’s simply not comfortable with relying on someone else to carry her child. She explained, ”It’s uncomfortable for me to think of my baby growing in some other woman’s tummy.”
Following the episode, In Touch confirmed that Lisa and Lenny did end up hiring a surrogate, but sadly, the deal fell through.
“After three miscarriages and four failed IVF tries, it was a nightmare,” Lisa says of the ordeal. “We thought we’d found the right person, but she had some personal issues and it didn’t work out. It was so disappointing.”
Still, Lisa and Lenny are determined to start a family and have since started the surrogacy process over again, hoping to find a better match.
“It’s scary,” Lisa continues. “Obviously, I made a mistake last time because the woman didn’t tell me she had problems.”
Now that Lisa has some experience in the world of surrogacy, she feels more prepared going into the second round of interviews and plans to be much more “hands on” as they try and find someone who can carry her child — and she’s feeling positive about the outcome.
“I didn’t always agree with going this route, but I’m in a much better place now and I can’t wait anymore,” she states. “It will happen — a baby is coming next season!”
