Woman Sues Mac After Allegedly Contracting Herpes from Sampling RiRi Woo Lipstick

Starkeema Greenidge attended a Rihanna concert at Barclays Center on May 7th expecting good music, good dancing and good vibes. What she actually got from the concert was a viral disease.
According to the Daily News, the 28-year-old Harlem resident allegedly contracted herpes at the concert after a sales representative at the venue’s MAC shop applied used lipstick to her lips. Well, that’s pretty foul, to say the least. Greenidge is suing MAC in the Manhattan Supreme Court. The suit argues that MAC “should have known…it was unsanitary and exposing patrons to possible spread of disease.” Greenidge claims that, because of the herpes-ridden lipstick, she was out of work for two weeks, causing her “mental anguish and emotional distress.” MAC has not yet officially responded to the lawsuit, but should definitely do so as soon as possible.
The lipstick, though, was no ordinary product. It was Rihanna’s RiRi Woo for MAC that led Greenidge to catch herpes. The lipstick brand, which sold out last week in three hours, now carries a stigma along with it after Greenidge’s suit. Poor RiRi. Clearly, her business product did not woo this consumer.
Besides the whole herpes scandal, Rihanna seems to be doing just fine. Her latest album, Unapologetic, recently became platinum in the United States. She also has been nominated for “Choice Female Artist” at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. She even showed her inner wittiness after Amanda Bynes started feuding with her over Twitter last week. After Bynes claimed that Chris Brown beat the 25-year-old singer because she wasn’t “pretty enough,” Rihanna took it upon herself to tweet “Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?” Singer, entrepreneur and now comedian? Impressive.
