Madonna Reaction To M.I.A. Middle Finger: It Was Negative & Teenage
Madonna is the only person yet to react to the M.I.A. middle finger that overshadowed the other 12-minutes of the Super Bowl half-time show.
In an extremely-long phone-in interview with Ryan Seacrest, Madonna addressed the before, during, and after, with a few of her trademark snide, passive-aggressive digs at everyone from her own kids to M.I.A.; the latter of whom was chided for pulling focus in a stunt not done during rehearsal and about which Madonna had no idea.
“I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it,” said Madonna at On Air with Ryan Seacrest. “I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager… irrelevant thing to do… there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.”
Madonna also gave a phone interview with Carson Daly, clarifying that M.I.A. had since apologised for the stunt. In related news, were NBC to be fined for broadcasting the middle finger, M.I.A. would be personally liable.
