Reports: Marc Anthony Cheated On Jennifer Lopez With A Flight Attendant; Lopez Wanted To Divorce Last Christmas
It’s alleged by Us Weekly that Marc Anthony cheated on estranged wife Jennifer Lopez with a flight attendant on a private plane (equally-classy Arnold Schwarzenegger is alleged to have done the same thing around the time he impregnated his housekeeper). It should be noted that Us Weekly has something of a vendetta against Anthony – it was reported by Lainey Gossip that word of the separation reached the tabloids and Lopez managed to talk Us Weekly into holding off on the promise of an official/ exclusive statement… but Anthony went to People to release the statement out of spite. So, yeah, Us Weekly has been releasing pro-Lopez stories all week. And People has been a little more pro-Anthony. To go with their dueling covers.
Us Weekly claimed that Anthony was abusive and possessive; the control thing was confirmed by Lopez’ stylist. Us Weekly also claimed that Lopez’s mother emailed ex-fiance Ben Affleck for advice on the split. Ha!
By contrast, People has been been writing about how the split was fairly mutual after years of fighting. And yesterday, they wrote about how Anthony was coping (he’s been hiding away, mostly).
The latest from Us Weekly is that Anthony cheated on Lopez, and that was the real reason for their marriage counselling.
A source says that Anthony, 42, hooked up with a flight attendant he met aboard a private plane in 2009.
“Marc and Jennifer almost split up over it,” the source tells Us of the couple, parents to 3-year-old twins Emme and Max. [Adds] another insider, “Jennifer was going to leave him then, but Marc begged her to stay. They went to marriage counseling and she decided to give it another shot. He was someone she truly loved.” – via Us Weekly.
Assuming that any of this happened, yes, that would explain the reported two years of fighting and the need to try marriage counselling. Less than a year after the alleged cheating, Lopez asked for a divorce. RadarOnline is reporting that Lopez tired of being in a miserable marriage and she demanded a divorce around Christmas. “Jen told him she wanted out of the marriage late last year but he begged her to stay,” a source claims. “She stayed but she was miserable until finally she couldn’t take it any more.”
The covers for this week are below and the alliances are obvious, no? Us Weekly has a pro-Lopez headline about “Cheating & Lies: Her side of the story,” and she’s (effectively) solo. People feature the former couple standing together, with a more neutral headline.
