Marc Anthony Nightline/ GMA Interview: Talks About Jennifer Lopez Split
September 1, 2011 by Hollywoodite
Marc Anthony has taken his sweet time in addressing his split from estranged wife Jennifer Lopez, with whom he has been hanging out and with whom there seems to be no obvious hostility. At the time of the split, it was alleged that Anthony was controlling, abusive, philandering, smothering, the works. He was painted in the media as a pretty crummy guy, especially by Us Weekly who went on a really classless smear campaign to get back at him after Anthony went under their noses to People to give a statement after Lopez sealed a deal with Us Weekly first.
Lopez came off better in the tabloid war; there was sympathy and the assumption that she was the innocent, wronged woman. There was no sympathy for Anthony, even after claims they both went to therapy to work things out and he begged her to stay. Most of the negative assumptions linger and Lopez did little to change that even after speaking to Vanity Fair. All we got from her VF interview was that she still loved him. We get the same from Anthony in this new ABC interview that will be airing today on Good Morning America and Nightline.
Said Anthony of the split, not sounding too bothered about it, “It was a realization on both our parts. So, you know, it wasn’t shocking. These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly… This is not a funeral. This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realized… I’m saying that it wasn’t sustainable the way it was, and that’s that. [I will] always love Jennifer.”
The interview will air on Good Morning America Thursday at 7 a.m. EST and Nightline at 11:35 p.m. EST on ABC.
