Mariah Carey Catches Eyes and Raises Ears on Good Morning America

Mariah Carey is no stranger to live performances and the mishaps that may happen during them. The singer was scheduled to perform her new song, #Beautiful, featuring up-and-coming R&B artist Miguel on Good Morning America this morning. Little did she know that what she would really be performing was a somewhat raunchy display for any audience member and New Yorker with basic cable to gawk at.
It was probably a sight for sore eyes for many people watching. After Lara Spencer, the lifestyle anchor for Good Morning America, stood on stage with Mariah while conversing about the awaited performance and comforting the singer in her early-morning grumpiness, it happened. Mariah’s dress, which she stated was designed by Donatella Versace, ripped, or “popped” according to the singer. As it was being sewed back together, Mariah exposed her back to the audience and Lara helped to cover her up, attempting to avoid any scandals. Mariah decreed that it seemed like “a Youtube moment.” Indeed, Mariah, it was.
But that’s not all that made her performance, or its preceding moments, viral. Mariah also failed to attain self-control and yelled out “oh sh*t” right before going on with Miguel. She, of course, responded immediately with “you didn’t hear that” to the audience and viewers. Oh, Mariah, but you’re wrong. We did. But we forgive you…maybe.
Mariah sat in a big, white throne of sorts during her actual performance, singing back and forth with Miguel. While the live duet was fun to watch, it was nowhere near as entertaining as what led up to it. Props to you, Mariah, for delivering great entertainment through thick and thin.
