It’s Not Just Mariah Carey… Guess Which Idol Judge Also Feuded With Nicki Minaj?

It seems like Mariah Carey is getting all the attention these days for her reported feud with fellow American Idol judge Nicki Minaj, but Carey may not be the only one who had conflicts with Minaj this season.

According to executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, Keith Urban also had some heated moments with the female rapper.

Lythgoe told USA today in a conference call with reporters that when it came to arguments, Urban also had “a big one with Nicki.”

In fact, Urban also confirmed this in an interview with toofab.com when he acknowledged that, even though he and Minaj share similar views, their disagreements can be the most extreme. He stated: “Nicki and I agree a lot on a lot of people and see a lot of the same things in people, but then we’ll probably be the most disagreeing on certain people too.”

Urban was also stuck in the middle of the bickering divas Carey and Minaj, sitting literally directly in between the two during their arguments.

“He sometimes looks like he’s watching a tennis match, with his head bobbing between the two girls. But when it’s his turn to speak, he gives his mind, and he won’t put up with anybody else knocking a kid down,” Lythgoe also said in the conference.

It looks like none of the four judges backed down from their views about the contestants, but what are the reasons for the constant disagreements?

“Nicki is looking for an artist,” Lythgoe says. “I think Mariah is looking for the complete singer/songwriter. Randy is looking for somebody that sings on pitch. Keith is not just looking for a country singer. He is looking for an instrumentalist, a good singer and somebody that can capture that magic… charisma, if you will.”

Season 12 of America Idol will be premiering at 8pm on Wednesday January 16th on FOX.
