Mariah Carey Photoshopped, Badly, For American Idol Promotional Photo

Mariah Carey’s appointment as American Idol judge was announced the day before Jennifer Lopez’s birthday, following protracted negotiations with both. Lopez was effectively fired from Idol along with former co-judge Steven Tyler. But all anyone could talk about was Carey’s proven track record of crazy on live television (HLN, anyone?) and television in general (stripping on TRL during her breakdown) and how much they, as an audience, were looking forward to watching Idol again just for the show’s replacement judge(s).

And here is Carey earning her keep. Proving that Idol paid her so much that it’s eaten into their Photoshop budget because, really, what on Earth is this photo?

Her first promotional photo for Idol, aside from having nothing to do with the show, shows Carey’s CGI arms in a weird pose with the iStock waistline. And the sunset! Can we not?
