The Marriages Of Breaking Amish: Who’s Been Married, Who’s Been Divorced?

Breaking Amish has been careful to becloud the back stories of its cast and hide some facts altogether. Specifically missing from their bios on the show: the marriages, divorces, and children of some of the cast. Incidentally, every single person has either an arrest, mug shot, ex-spouse, or kid(s). Only some of which has been mentioned on Breaking Amish up until episode five.
In episode six, according to a preview, Jeremiah Raber finally admits that he’s been married before. What he doesn’t mention is that the tattoo it’s suggested is brand new in a previous episode is really from 2009 and the New York tattoo artist is covering over his ex-wife’s name. Moreover, the names that are remaining are those of this three kids with his ex-wife, Naomi Stutzman.
Another thing Raber fails to mention, at least in the preview, is what went wrong. He says simply “it didn’t work out.” Well, that’s an understatement. It may have worked out if he’d not verbally and physically abused Stutzman who tired of the beatings, had Raber arrested for domestic violence in 2005, and filed for divorce and sole custody of their minor kids (they married February 27, 2005 and Stutzman filed for divorce February 10, 2011).
Only last week did fans learn the full name of cast mate “Rebecca.” Who is revealed to be the Rebecca Jane Byler who filed for a marriage license with Rufus L. Hostetler, Jr. March 22, 2010 after which they got married.
It ended quickly, though. Hostetler alleged on his Facebook that Byler cheated on him, running away weeks after the wedding to be with future cast mate Abe Schmucker. With whom Byler has reportedly been in a relationship since mid-2010, and they reportedly have a baby together (here she is pregnant June 2010), since the chaste relationship on the show is mostly an act. For the purposes of the show, for example, Schmucker will propose to Byler on an upcoming episode.
Hostetler wrote on Facebook October 31, 2010: “I am tryn 2 figure out why in th world abe schmucker wud want to b a friend on face book afterall he left wht my wife.”
Byler’s divorce only came through a few weeks ago, as shown in a Register of Actions dated July 2012 that noted its incidentals. So Byler is a divorcee, who ran away from her husband-of-weeks to be with another man and almost immediately get knocked-up. Here’s a photo of Byler and her ex-husband.
And, finally, Sabrina Burkholder (née High).
Her marriage license shows she got married July 25, 2009. Moreover, there are photos of her non-Mennonite wedding to Delmar R. Burkholder from whom she’s rumoured to have subsequently divorced (although the record of their divorce has not been made public, yet, and there are only rumours that she was dating someone else before the show).
