Mary-Louise Parker Accused of Threatening Shop Owner

According to TMZ.com, the star of Showtime original series Weeds denies getting into an ugly argument in a store back in January. An accusatory shop owner says otherwise.

Mary-Louise Parker’s rep confirms the actress stopped at a Saugerties, New York antique store on January 2nd of this year. Parker entered with a friend who went to the shop to collect a check the owner owed the friend for selling one of her purses.

Parker’s rep went on to say that the shop owner refused to pay Parker’s friend which would eventually lead to a heated argument between the three parties involved. While he was making a statement regarding the incident to the police, the shop owner claimed that Parker tried to use her celebrity status and called the shop owner a slur and threaten his life. Parker was quoted as saying… “Do you want to wake up tomorrow? I’ll make one phone call.”

Daniel Seldin, the store owner, said that Parker made a derogatory remark against homosexuals towards him. Parker’s rep, however, seems to tell a very different version of the incident. According to Parker’s rep, an argument involving money owed to Parker’s friend did take place, but Parker was not directly involved in the altercation. Her rep added that Parker left the establishment as things started to get out of control and that Parker is simply not the kind of person to get that out of control herself.

It seems Parker may not be too far off from her Weeds persona after all.
