Michael Anthony Ford: Father Of Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon From Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
Further addressing the daughters of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo having different fathers, it would appear David Michael “Sugar Bear” Thompson, 40, is only the father of six-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. The other girls, Anna, 17, Jessica, 15, and Lauryn, 12, each have a different father. Which, frankly, means there were many bad decisions made close together given the girls’ ages.
According to a report today, Michael Anthony Ford is the father of 15-year-old Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon from the TLC show. It would appear the mother, June “Mama” Shannon, 33, and the known fathers are all convicted felons (see: Alana’s father and Anna’s father). The worst of the known fathers (Lauryn’s paternity is either unknown or disputed) is Ford, a convicted sex offender.
According to the National Enquirer, Ford is “a registered sex offender in Georgia who served more than two years in prison for sexual exploitation of a child over the Internet in 2005. He was also charged with passing bad checks and for shoplifting at a Walmart where he worked.” (note: there are lots of random arrests for bad checks and stealing from work, of which Mama was also accused).
Ford, 35, now back in his native rural Cleveland, Georgia tells the Enquirer: “June and I only dated for a few months, and she became pregnant. I left June and went with another woman a month before Jessica was born. Now I can’t see my daughter. The last time I called and asked to see her, they told me if I came down there, I would be arrested for harassment. My daughter has grandparents, and I want her to get to know them while they’re still around. I’ve paid around $300 a month in child support for years, even though I’m on Social Security, but still, I don’t get to see my own daughter.”
Asked about the show, which he was told to watch for updates about his daughter, Ford continued, “I think the kids are being exploited. It’s sad and aggravating. To my daughter, I’m just ‘Michael,’ not ‘Daddy.’ If Jessica wants to tell me, without being influenced by the rest of them, that she doesn’t want anything to do with me, I wouldn’t like it, but I would respect that. She doesn’t know me. She’s only seen me five times in her whole life. When do I get to be a father?” Well, never, hopefully. Given what he’s guilty of.
