Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth Call Off Engagement, Reps Confirm

It’s official! Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s engagement is over. Just weeks after Miley’s controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance, reps for both Miley and Liam have confirmed that they are no longer engaged to wed.
Just a short time ago, People Magazine broke the not-so-surpising news, stating, “Reps for both Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth confirm to PEOPLE exclusively that the engagement is off between the two stars.”
Miley and Liam have been plagued with break-up rumors since early this year when Liam allegedly left an Oscar bash with actress January Jones. From there, Miley was seen without her Neil Lane engagement ring and the pair reportedly went their separate ways. Days later, Miley insisted that she was getting her ring repaired at the time of the photo and that nothing more was going on. Despite Miley’s claims, rumors regarding a possible split continued to swirl.
By July, Miley and Liam, who became engaged in the summer of last year after first meeting in 2010, appeared to be back on track and were photographed together (for the first time in months) during a trip to Canada where Liam was shooting a film. Then, in early August, the pair made an appearance together on the red carpet at the Paranoia premiere in Los Angeles. Since then, they hadn’t been seen publicly and seemed to be living separate lives, Miley working on her music, and Liam concentrating on his acting career.
Besides the confirmation of the break-up, Miley and Liam’s rep had no further comment on the split.
