Miley Cyrus Engagement Ring Photo; Reaction To Engagement News

It was confirmed yesterday during People Magazine’s double-whammy that Miley Cyrus, 19, is engaged to Liam Hemsworth, 22 (the tabloid is appearing a little desperate to catch up, after being scooped by Us Weekly Magazine on almost every other exclusive January through May this year).
Along with the exclusive confirmation and statement from Cyrus saying “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” the magazine got the first photo of the engagement ring ahead of Cyrus wearing it in public yesterday.
The magazine describes the diamond engagement ring as “cushion-cut, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern.” With the designer, Lane, saying Hemsworth wanted “something unusual… something really beautiful and romantic.” Hemsworth settled on “a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics.” With an antique stone: “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”
Cyrus thanked fans for their well-wishes by tweeting: “Thank you for all the love today I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true. ❤ have a great day.’
And there’s been a reaction from her father, Billy Ray, on Twitter: ”All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness…peace of mind …and someday know… true love.”
Sources say there would never have been familial opposition to the engagement, because Hemsworth lived with the Cyrus family while dating his then-16-year-old girlfriend and filming The Last Song in 2009. He was 19 at the time. Three years later and he’s part of the family.
“They knew it was coming,” a family source told RadarOnline.com. “Liam lived with Miley and her parents when they began dating in 2009. Billy Ray and Tish love him like a son. However, Billy Ray is concerned about how young they are and he hopes that they aren’t in a rush to get married. Billy Ray hopes the engagement will be very long, but he isn’t opposed to the marriage at all. Billy Ray got divorced from his first wife Cindy though and he just doesn’t want Miley to go through a similar heartbreak.”
“Liam is part of the Cyrus family and he is very close with Miley’s mom, Tish. It’s a very special time for the family and it’s certainly not easy for Billy Ray to realize that his oldest daughter is getting married. In Billy Ray’s eyes she will always be his little girl.”
