VIDEO Miley Cyrus We Can’t Stop: Listen To Miley Cyrus’ Latest Song
June 3, 2013 by Emma Reynolds
These days, Miley Cyrus is more famous for her coming-of-age antics, or her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, than her music. And while it’s been known a new Miley album has been in the works, the June 4th release date of her single We Can’t Stop sneaked up quicker than we expected.
In recent years, Miley’s hit songs Party in the U.S.A. and Can’t Be Tamed provided audiences with upbeat pop/dance anthems. With new music influences like Snoop Lion, Pharrell, Will.i.Am, and Tyler the Creator, Miley’s new sound is expected to be edgy and unlike anything we’ve heard from her before. The pressure Miley has now to appeal to older, edgier audiences is what could make or break her music career.
According to Billboard online, We Can’t Stop is an R&B party anthem full of girl-power and drug-referenced lyrics, proving that Miley has strayed from any bit of Disney she had left in her. Miley sings lyrics like “shaking it like we at a strip club” and “dancing with molly,” sparking questions about drug-references. Nonetheless, Miley’s single is a girl-powered song about going out with girlfriends and not being able to stop the party.
With the all the anticipation and pressure for Miley to “Wow!” us, she may not have delivered as successfully as fans hoped for. This energy of the single can’t be compared to Party in the U.S.A. or Can’t Be Tamed. Instead, the song is hazy and more relaxed than the dance-beat fans may have been expecting.
The exact release date of Miley’s full album is unknown, but there is no question the anticipation is just beginning for Miley’s comeback album.
