MTV’s Buckwild Cast: Katie Saria Responds To West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s Criticisms
Another of the girls on MTV’s Buckwild is Katie Saria, “The College Girl.”
Her MTV bio says: “A well-rounded college girl, Katie loves to spend her free time away from school, back with her friends in Sissonville. She is afraid of anything potentially dangerous, which means the gang loves to push her to her limit whenever they can.”
Her Twitter bio says simply: “I hate mouth breathers. MTVs #buckwild.”
Saria also has a personal blog that started November 2012 at ktsariablog.wordpress.com that appears to be about girls’ relationships with boys. On the blog, she gives advice on male friends, including friends with benefits, boyfriends, and “unattainable” guys, and she calls guys “dreamy” a LOT.
She explains the purpose of the site: “Whats up world! Welcome to We’re Just Friends. I decided to make a blog (obviously) because I think it’s important that girls know how to be friends with boys.I’m also on Thanksgiving Break and really bored. So I decided to type and really hope someone will read this. (Please read my blog. (Please.)) As girls… As grown a** women, there are a lot of different guys in our lives. Most importantly we have Dad. Lets take a second to snaps for dad. but more pertaining to this blog we have the many many boys who will enter and exit our lives. There are the boys you love, the boys who are so perfect and so there for you who you wish you loved and your guy friends. I want to talk about those three categories and how to maintain a healthy relationship with them.” She posts her email address and invites people to send in questions.
And she jokes, when Buckwild’s cast is announced, “Adding my new and brief found celebrity to aggressively attack and harass Lorne Michaels to put me on saturday night live on the list of things I have to do this week.”
The About page for her blog says: “Shalom! Hey guys my name is Katie. You probably go to school with me. Or went to school with me. I’m bad at econ but I’m good at writing about girl things. So hopefully you like it! If you do let me know! Let me know if you don’t like it, too, so I can know what to change. Or don’t tell me because I probably won’t change it because I don’tactually know how to blog and it will just end up hurting my feelings…. anyway. However if I misspell something or use improper grammar feel free to laugh at me because I’m a journalism major I should probably have this down by now. xoxo Katie” To which Buckwild co-star Cara Parrish responded in the About’s comments saying “ruvv you, Princess Kate!”
In the most recent blog dated December 6, Saria responded to the West Virginia politician who called Buckwild “repulsive” and “ugly” and who asked that MTV cancel the show (it actually hasn’t even aired yet). In a blog entitled “In response to Senator Manchin,” Saria wrote the following.
LOL Buckwild put way over 100k into West Virginia’s economy in wages alone. which went straight into our monetary cycle when we used that money on other West Virginia products and services. A lot of those products were from locally owned boutiques because um I like shopping. Plus every week we filmed the crew stayed in Charleston hotels and ate in Charleston restaurants. So our GDP raised by thousands of dollars a week. NBD.
I’m also an All-American senior at WVU on full scholarship. I like to horseback ride and I’ve volunteered thirty hours this semester alone. I have a competitive GPA and I’m about to graduate college. Sorry for misrepresenting West Virginians? – via Katie Saria’s blog and Facebook.
Here’s her Twitter, her Instagram that puts her year of birth at 1990 (also, in a November 21st post, she wrote “All ready to turn 22 tonight!!!!” so she’s 22-years-old now), and her blog.
