MTV Denies Report It’s Shutting Down Production On Teen Mom 2 Because of Jenelle Evans

January 30, 2013 by Hollywoodite

Yesterday, The New York Post reported that production sources “confirmed” Teen Mom 2 would end by season five following the bad press it got from Jenelle Evans’ meltdown.

Over the past few months, Evans has left an ex-fiance she claims is abusive for a boyfriend who keeps selling n00ds of her and once she got tired of trading one for the other, she almost immediately moved in with and got married to Courtland Rogers by whom she claimed to have been pregnant. As “proof,” she sold the story to RadarOnline.com for $20,000 that included information about the supposed due date and she shared on Twitter a supposed sonogram and (six week) baby bump photo. Then she claimed, on Twitter, to have had a miscarriage although fans questioned the veracity of her story and disliked her hanging with friends, shopping and playing video games, immediately after. There’s no way to know whether she was pregnant but she was really airing her dirty laundry on Twitter every minute of the day. The couple subsequently split and immediately started seeing other people, and Evans, who has been arrested at least half-a-dozen times since first appearing on reality TV, filed assault charges and demanded a divorce.

And the NYP claimed MTV got cold feet, Teen Mom 2′s “days are numbered,” and the network intended to cancel the show.

But MTV issued a (vaguely-worded) statement claiming that it’s not cancelling the show just yet: “No decision has been made yet regarding a fifth season of Teen Mom 2, but the network is planning to air the fourth season this year and will announce the premiere date soon.”
