MTV Finally Issues Statement About Buckwild Cancellation

April 10, 2013 by Hollywoodite

It’s been nearly 12 hours since TMZ.com broke the news that Buckwild would not return for season two following the death of a cast member.

Soon after, sources for E! News confirmed the same thing. Then the Hollywood Reporter confirmed with a producer who said “this will get ugly” because none of the cast nor crew were forewarned; in fact, they were told Friday the show would go on only for MTV to change its mind.

The girls of the cast responded incredulously at first, then angrily, saying Shain Gandee and his family would want the show to continue and now they’re aggressively campaigning for the show’s return.

However, even despite those protests, moments ago, MTV issued an official statement about the cancellation.

A rep for MTV tells TMZ.com, “Given Shain’s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him. Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately. [This weekend will have a] day of programming dedicated to Shain in which we will air the entire first season of Buckwild.”
