Did NeNe and Gregg Leakes Sign A Prenup Before Getting Re-Married?

A lot has been said about the second marriage of NeNe and Gregg Leakes. From guests spilling details of the day, to NeNe spilling about expensive wedding gifts from broke Teresa Giudice, to disgruntled staffers threatening to sue.

One thing that hasn’t been covered in great depth, yet, however, is whether the couple signed a prenup to protect themselves from another separation. Although it’s considered by some to be defeatist and unromantic, the fact remains that couples split all the time and if you have a high net worth it’s worth at least investigating how to protect yourself from the worst case scenario.

For example, ever the pragmatist, NeNe explains her decision to get a prenup: “I got so many people talking to me about a prenup, like it was a bad thing,” she says. “To me, in an African-American household, a lot of people feel like a prenup is a bad thing. It’s not — it’s a great thing.”

“You would handle your will upfront, or your life insurance — you handle all those things before you pass,” NeNe continues. “It’s the same thing, in case something happens.”

“I feel like it was easier for us to work everything out in the front end while I like you, okay?” she adds. “That’s real. If I don’t like you, and we break up, honey, you not gonna get nothing. I will be fighting you tooth and nail.”

“I’m apprehensive because we’re not gonna need it — we’re never divorcing again,” Gregg added, on Arsenio Hall’s talk show, although he didn’t have a prenup the first time they married–when he was the wealthier party.

Now NeNe is the richer spouse, however, he agreed to sign one.

Asked why there wasn’t a prenup the first time, NeNe joked, “[Men] like Hello Kitty, then they worry about the other stuff later.”
