Video: Ohio State University Marching Band’s AMAZING Video Game Theme Halftime Show

October 8, 2012 by Hollywoodite

This past Saturday, the marching band for Ohio State University performed an amazing halftime show themed around modern and retro video games and cartoons. Demonstrating why they also go by the moniker “TBDBITL,” the Best Damn Band in the Land.

With eye-catching precision, the marching band acted out scenes and characters from retro games including Tetris, Pac-Man, Super Mario Brothers, and Space Invaders, and more modern games like HALO (and the Pokemon cartoon character, Pikachu). One of the standout moments in the nine-minute video, below, is an homage to “Eponia,” a galloping, neighing horse from Nintendo’s The Legend Of Zelda.

The marching was accompanied by matching soundtracks, played by the 225-member brass and percussion band.

A more convoluted reference that actually inspired booing at first, during the Ohio State-Nebraska game, notes The Daily Mail: “The show even included a jab at the Buckeyes’ arch-rivals, the University of Michigan Wolverines. As the marching band constructed the iconic Bowser’s Castle and flag pole from Super Mario Brothers, a pair dressed as Mario and Luigi helped take down the maize and blue Michigan flag. They replaced it, inside the castle with an Ohio State flag.”

Watch the video below at the close of which is the words “GAME OVER.”
