Operation Hide Us Weekly Tumblr: Angry Fans Hiding Copies Of Us Weekly

August 1, 2012 by Hollywoodite

When Us Weekly Magazine broke the news that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson, the immediate fan reaction was sorrow over the tarnishing of their idols and anger aimed at Us Weekly itself. It started with lies spread through IMDb boards trying to discredit the photos on the cover released last Monday. It continued with contrived, fabricated rebuttals. But then, hours later, Stewart released a statement admitting her guilt and professing her love for Pattinson; seemingly begging him to stay.

And that’s where we are, still, after a week of source information and conspiracies.

Except some fans have decided to defend Stewart, and spite Us Weekly for outing her, by conspiring to hide copies of the tabloid. Yes, really. There’s an “Operation Hide Us Weekly” Tumblr replete with fan testimonials about what they hid, where they hid it, and why. And a reply from the admin to a bemused fan asking the point of the site: “She’s our role model. Someone we look up to. Someone whose career we admire. She loves her job. We love her job. We are her fans, and we’ll protect her and Rob as we can.”

Included are photos from the site, in which fans can be seen hiding product around their local grocery stores. For example: inside a microwave, under children’s toys, under shelving, behind drinks, and many, many more.
