Paris Jackson Suicide Attempt: Was She A Victim of Bullying?

June 7, 2013 by Jennifer Exley

More details regarding Paris Jackson’s suicide attempt are coming to light following the teen’s hospitalization on Wednesday.

A source told E! News that Paris felt “like an outsider” in school and was frequently bullied by other teens. ”She does not have many true friends [at school],” the source continued. “She doesn’t feel like she really fits in there.”

Supposedly, the fifteen-year-old has been having problems connecting to the other teens in her school. She hasn’t been happy and “has been complaining recently about feeling bullied at school.”

According to studies done at Yale University, bully victims are 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-bullying victims. Could the bullying have been the cause for Paris’ suicide attempt?

Paris’ grandmother, Katherine Jackson, released a statement through an attorney, saying Paris was “physically fine” and was receiving the appropriate medial attention.

Latoya Jackson also issued a statement to E! News saying, “We are grateful and appreciate the overwhelming concern for Paris from both the public and the media.”

But the family did request their privacy while they handle the situation.
