VIDEO Watch Paula Deen Apology for Racist Remarks That Got Her Fired From Food Network

Unfortunately for Paula Deen, the Food Network uses the three strikes and you’re out rule. Just hours after releasing back-to-back apology videos intended to ameliorate the admission of years of openly racist remarks, Deen has been fired.

A Food Network spokesperson released a statement today stating that the “Food Network will not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of this month.”

The 66-year old chef originally came under criticism earlier this week after admitting to using racial slurs as jokes and claiming she wanted a “plantation style” wedding with black men dressed as slaves.

Initially, Deen released a 45-second video to apologize for the incident. In the video, she states:

“I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong I have done. I want to learn and grow from this. Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way but I beg you, my children, my team, my fans, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made.”

Shortly after that video was released, an even longer second video was added. In which Deen elaborated a bit more on her beliefs. She stated:

“The color of your skin, your religion, your sexual preference doesn’t matter to me. It’s what is in the heart and my family and I try to live by that. I am here to say I am so sorry, I was wrong, I’ve worked hard and I’ve made mistakes but that is no excuse and I offer my sincere apology to those that I have hurt. “I hope that you forgive me because this comes from the deepest part of my heart and I will continue to work and continue to do good things for good people.”

Deen has not, however, released a third statement since the announcement from The Food Network.

She currently has three shows on The Food Network, one of which is the popular Paula’s Best Dishes.
