People Magazine: Jennifer Aniston Says “Yes,” Inside Justin Theroux’s Proposal

People Magazine is the second to release a Jennifer Aniston cover this week, despite being the only to land the exclusive statement from Justin Theroux’s rep confirming the engagement (honestly, it was foolish of People.com to release the statement Sunday night, and not rush to publish its cover online Monday morning, thereby giving competitors the jump to change their own covers and share the glory).
That said, People is, clearly, the only one with real details and the information has been spoonfed by Aniston, Aniston’s friends, and Aniston’s reps. Same with Theroux. It’s firsthand, even if it’s spin.
The cover says: “New Details. Inside the Proposal. ‘She’s Happier Than Ever.’ On a secret New York getaway, Justin Theroux, 41, pops the question. The latest on wedding plans, starting a family and Jen’s joy. Plus: Their romantic road to I Do.” Let’s ignore the tedious qualifier about “starting a family,” implying “babies,” when Aniston has made it pretty clear that’s not a deal breaker for her and as though JustJen require babies together before qualifying as a family, ugh. But, sure, whatever.
In short, they got engaged August 10 and friends offer more specifics.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux hopped a private jet to New York City last weekend to celebrate Theroux’s 41st birthday. But he had a little something else up his sleeve: an engagement ring.
On Aug. 10, Theroux’s birthday, the pair of 15 months sat side by side at a corner table at Blue Hill restaurant in Manhattan, enjoying a quiet dinner and looking “like a long-term couple in love,” a source tells People.
But the celebration was just getting started. As his rep exclusively revealed to People, Theroux proposed that day and Aniston, 43, gave him “an extraordinary gift” by accepting. “He’s been dying to do it,” says a Theroux [friend] of his popping the question. “His friends knew it was coming.”
Immediately after Aniston’s heartfelt “yes!” the couple called their families, including her father, actor John Aniston, and close [friends] to share the good news.
“Everyone is really excited for them,” adds a source. “It’s amazing to see how happy Justin makes Jen, and everyone was always hoping that he would propose.”
Friends say that the couple got serious about each other fast, and that actor-screenwriter Theroux is a perfect match for the laid-back Aniston. “They have the same low-key attitude about life,” says a member of their inner circle. “They just click and complement each other.” – via People Magazine.
