Philip Seymour Hoffman Checked Into Detox Facility for Heroin Abuse
Philip Seymour Hoffman has apparently been in and out of rehab without anyone noticing. He checked himself into a detox facility on the East Coast and completed the 10-day program last Friday, TMZ reported.
The 2006 Oscar winner struggled with drugs in the past but had managed to remain clean for 23-years. He began his struggles again about a year ago, according to TMZ. It started with prescription pills and recently escalated to snorting heroin. Recognizing the signs, Hoffman checked himself into a facility and was released last Friday, May 24.
The 45-year-old actor is married to costume designer Mimi O’Donnell and the couple have three children. Hoffman was also nominated for an Oscar this past year for his work in The Master.
TMZ reports that the treatment has worked so far and Hoffman is off in Europe shooting a film. Hoffman will play Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire out this November.
