PHOTO The Simpsons does a tribute to Marcia Wallace: “We’ll really miss you Mrs K!”
Marcia Wallace passed away recently and, although shows like The Simpsons have really long lead times where the episodes are animated months ahead of time, they’ve spliced in a new scene for this Sunday’s episode to honour the late stalwart, who played Edna Krabappel.
In the opening scene, on the famous school chalkboard (do schools still use those?!), Bart writes ”We’ll really miss you Mrs K!”, acknowledging that the character has been retired and, from recent reports, will not be replaced with another actor.
Moreover, producers clarified, following confusion among fans, Edna is NOT the character they were planning to kill off as announced months ago. Marcia only passed away very recently, so the character that’s going to be killed off is completely separate and is rumoured to be another supporting character.
