PHOTOS Amber Portwood released from prison 17 months into five year sentence

Former MTV Teen Mom reality star Amber Portwood has been released from Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility.

Amber, 24, was initially sentenced rehab as part of a plea deal for probation violation. However, she chose to do time in prison to set her life straight instead. She got five years but, thanks to good behavior, time served, and credit for two courses, her term was deemed to be “completed” only 17 months in. She also completed a substance abuse treatment program while in jail. She is now on probation and will have to submit to random drug tests as part of the terms of her release.

RadarOnline has video of the release, as Amber is met by family, friends, and media, but not her toddler daughter, Leah, whom Amber says she’s meeting up with later today.

“I want to go get something good to eat,” she responded when asked what’s the first thing she’s going to do with her freedom.

“I’m going to college,” she adds of her plans (she got her GED in prison), adding that she “absolutely” feels strong enough to stay clean.

Asked whether she wants joint custody of Leah, she added, “That’s the goal… That’s what’s gonna happen.”

Radar also notes Amber was being mic-ed for another interview.
