Producer admits X Factor “ratings were not what we hoped”

The market is currently overwhelmed with reality shows. Particularly, competition shows like X Factor USA which is based on a franchise that started circa 2001. Fans seem fatigued and, as such, are switching off certain shows in droves.

Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly admitsĀ ”No decision has been made” on the next season of X Factor.

X Factor “under-performed this year,” Kevin added. “The ratings were not what we hoped.” Mostly due to theĀ ”crowded field.”

If the show does return, “It will not be in the current format.”

Simon’s return may also be off-camera because “he has a lot on his plate,” says Kevin. “But it’s his show. He’ll always be involved. I would never count Simon Cowell out.”

“It’s a No. 1 brand around the world,” insisted Kevin. “During its cycle [in other countries], there have been down years and it’s been re-anointed.”
