Prosecutors Insist Teresa Giudice And Joe Giudice Both Do Jail Time

Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice are currently facing 50 years behind bars and a possible deportation because of some allegedly shady financial dealings in their past. The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple was indicted on 39 counts of fraud last week and after bailing out on $500,000 bond, they are now attempting to strike a plea deal that will keep at least Teresa out of the slammer. Unfortunately, that may not be possible.
“Plea talks between the United States Attorney’s Office and Teresa and Joe’s lawyers haven’t formally begun yet, but prosecutors are insisting that BOTH of them do time behind bars,” a source told Radar Online. “The government has a very, very strong case against the Giudices and wants to make an example of them. The Giudices will also be facing serious, significant financial penalties.”
While the couple is facing 50 years behind bars, that is simply their maximum sentence and it is rare that anyone is given their max and if they are, they don’t typically don’t serve it in its entirety. Once inmates start their sentence, they are awarded “good time” for good behavior that can cut their sentence in half. In addition to that, most inmates are eligible to participate in educational programs and other activities that can also reduce their sentence. Although that may be good news to some, for The Giudices, it doesn’t mean much.
Currently, the pair has four young children and businesses to uphold and being away for any extended amount of time would be devastating to both. Sure, business can be rebuilt, but Teresa’s presence in her children’s lives is critical and shouldn’t be interrupted.
For Joe, there may not be a way around jail time, but according to reports, he feels that if he sacrifices himself it will allow his wife to remain a free woman. ”Joe is more than willing to take the fall for Teresa so that she stays out of jail,” a source close to Teresa adds. “Teresa is hopeful that she could do house arrest instead of jail time.”
