Reese Witherspoon Talks Plastic Surgery & Body Image In Glamour UK

February 3, 2012 by Hollywoodite

Reese Witherspoon covers Glamour March 2012. It’s a blah, samey, sun-drenched photo shoot and a boilerplate interview with boilerplate answers.

Witherspoon is asked about plastic surgery, as is everyone over the age of 30; anyone female anyway. And the actress gives the expected, inoffensive answer that she’s never had cosmetic surgery but she wouldn’t judge her vapid-sounding friends for fixing self-esteem issues with elective surgery. It’s a semi-interesting, if predictable reply. But at least it’s worded well.

On whether she attaches self-esteem to elective plastic surgery: “I’m not for it. I’m not against it. I have plenty of friends who do stuff and if it makes you feel good, great… but I don’t think it’s the fix for some sort of unease that you’re having about who you are as a human being. I don’t think I need plastic surgery at this point. Can we just go day-by-day on that one?”

On body image: “I don’t worry about it. I have the body I earned; I had two kids, and I’m still strong and healthy. And you start to have a different respect for your body the older you get. Instead of tearing yourself apart all the time, you start to go ‘Oh wow.’” – via Glamour UK Magazine.
