RHOBH Brandi Glanville disinvited from appearance due to racist comments
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality star Brandi Glanville is still in hot water over racist comments she made on the show.
Brandi claimed “black people don’t swim” and made another comment about Black women’s hair weaves (as Kendra Moore notes, not all Black women wear weaves… and of course some Black people can swim… so the comments are indeed ignorant).
Brandi defended the racist remark by saying something else racist, claiming her Black friends represent all Black people because “all my black friends can’t swim.”
Immediately afterward, Brandi issued a defensive non-apology and subsequently defended the comments again as a “joke.” However, that hasn’t stopped the backlash.
This weekend, for example, it was reported that Brandi was disinvited from a promotional event because the company didn’t want itself associated with a racism scandal.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa announced in a statement it had dropped Brandi from an upcoming event and any future promotions.
“As a company who prides itself on its core values of ‘Love All, Serve All,’ SHRHC has decided to proceed with the planned party without Ms. Glanville’s appearance due to recent developments that include remarks towards African Americans made by Ms. Glanville on her hit Bravo TV show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Until this situation is behind her, our organization feels it’s best to reinforce our culture and values at this time, which consist of love and respect for all,” said President John Fontana.
