Rihanna Admits Chris Brown Is “The Love Of My Life” During Oprah’s Next Chapter

August 20, 2012 by Hollywoodite

Rihanna’s interview for Oprah’s Next Chapter aired in full this weekend after so many teasers and excerpts.

During the interview, the 24-year-old appeared to have put the vicious beating by Chris Brown behind her and forgiven him. Moreover, she admits, Brown was her “best friend” whom she “lost,” he is the “love of her life,” she “still loves him,” they’re very “close friends” who “built a trust again and that’s it.”

It’s unclear just how Brown earned back her trust since it would seem apparent he’s not sorry for the felony beating right after which he went on vacation, pausing only to read scripted contrition in an abridged YouTube apology. And, since then, he’s been involved in several other violent outbursts that would indicate he’s still violent and unstable. And Rihanna seems conditioned and inured to the violence (growing up with an abusive father as did Brown, if memory serves) which is probably why she’s so eager to co-sign what happened by minimizing the violence as just “mistake” and trying to get back with Brown who has a girlfriend making it “awkward” whenever the three meet up.

The Women’s Resource Centre is also concerned about Rihanna’s delusion that Brown is sorry, in the absense of change or contrition, and the message her eagerness to forgive, her pandering, her begging for his love, and desperation to minimize the attack, is sending to fans who have learned domestic violence is okay and maybe even normal: “We need to stop society allowing us to normalise such behaviour,” said the WRC in a statement. “Rihanna has admitted she ‘was more concerned about’ her ‘best friend’ Chris Brown after the singer’s vicious attack on her.”

For his part, apparently, Brown doesn’t seem to care that much and just wishes Rihanna would stop reminding people who violent he can be. A source, who sounds like Brown himself, told HollywoodLife.com: “Chris saw the video clip [before its airing]. Of course he saw it, how do you think he feels? He feels horrible he did that. Watching [the interview] made him realize he made a big mistake and he’s been paying for it ever since. He’s working hard, in the studio, dancing, doing everything he can to rebuild his name and career and I think he been successful in doing all that. Y’all should be talking about his road to recovery and how he’s been a man and made s**t right. He and [Rihanna] are cool, more cool than anyone will know. She forgave [Chris] the minute that s**t went down, so what that say about their relationship?”

Another source told RadarOnline.com “Chris is just confused about Rihanna’s decision to bring up the past again and again; this time in an interview with Oprah. Rihanna has previously given wide ranging interviews about the beating to Diane Sawyer and several print magazines. Chris just doesn’t think it’s productive or relevant to rehash the events since essentially nothing new is being revealed in the interview Rihanna has done with Oprah. Chris doesn’t begrudge Rihanna at all for talking about it but he thinks that in order for them to both move forward, and not be defined by that one night, it would be better to stop bringing it up.”

Once the full interview is online, it will probably be available on Oprah’s website.
